Notes | In this chapter, we begin by describing the regional economies and human populations of the areas surrounding five Pacific Northwest estuaries: Grays Harbor and Willapa Bay in Washingon, and Coos Bay, Yquina Bay and Tillamook Bay in Oregon. Recognizing the nature of the local economies and the demographic characteristics of residents is fundamental to establishing the socio-economic baslein. In the second and third sections, we build on the baseline descriptions and focus on important findings from the Coastal Resident Survey and Coastal Visitor Survey. |
