Notes | Climate change brings rising sea levels, increased erosion, stronger storms and ocean acidification. It also brings stronger and longer-lasting droughts. This report reviews the record-setting 2015 drought in Oregon. Subjects covered include a review of literature on drought monitoring and reporting, a description of the 2015 drought, a summary of the drought’s effects, and conclusions and recommendations. “Coastal hatcheries were predominantly impacted, with Rock Creek Hatchery being the most severely affected. . . Shallow and warm waters from the North Umpqua River fed Rock Creek, which led to disease and the loss of nearly all of the hatchery’s summer steelhead” (p.36). |
