NotesPart of a report by Oregon’s Master Fish Warden. “I have been making an investigation this month of Drift creek, one of the large tributaries of the Alsea river, looking for a situation where we could establish a substation, to work in connection with the Yaquina hatchery. This past season, we divided up the fry raised at the Yaquina hatchery, between the Yaquina and the Alsea, hauling 1,000,000 of the chinooks and 1,000,000 of the silver side fry over the mountains and liberated them into a tributary of said Drift creek. After this I want to transfer the eggs when in the eyed state, which will be much more satisfactory, and am desirous of having a situation on said Drift creek where a few troughs can be set up and the fry raised and turned out in the immediate vicinity…”
