NotesExamined nitrate and silica loading in the Yaquina River from 1999-2002. Looked at the effect of storm events. Strong seasonality of nutrient transport was shown. Interestingly, alder seems to be the primary source of nitrogen in the Yaquina basin. "Modern logging practices, urban growth and fish harvesting have resulted in the expansion of alder cover along with a decrease in returning fish. The result has changed the primary nitrogen source in the Yaquina River from anadromous fish to alder." (p.377)
