NotesThe Newport North Marina Jetty was built "to dissipate the energy of incoming waves and offer some protection to boats and moorings facilities located in Newport. Unfortunately, the jetty is under-protecting the area so that modifications are needed to improve its efficiency. Plans call for dredging around the western end of the jetty in conjunction with construction improvements." (from the Introduction) Before dredging could begin, the sediments had to be examined to assure the safe disposal of dredged materials.
